CIC Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods that participate in the Community Impact program are located in the urban core of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Since inception, Community Impact has targeted two neighborhood cohorts for intervention.

Cohort I Neighborhoods (1999 – 2006): Bushtown, Highland Park, M.L. King, Southside.

Collaborating with resident leaders in the Cohort I neighborhoods and other program partners, Community Impact led the efforts that reversed many of the negative conditions that fostered decline in these neighborhoods. The M. L. King Neighborhood and the Southside Historic District graduated from the intense intervention phase of the Community Impact program in 2005; the Highland Park and Bushtown neighborhoods graduated in 2006.

Cohort II Neighborhoods (2007 – 2010): Churchville, Glenwood, Orchard Knob

In 2007, Community Impact began its work in Churchville, Glenwood and Orchard, neighborhoods that are in close proximity to Bushtown and Highland Park. Working in areas that are in close proximity to substantially revitalized neighborhoods provides opportunities to build on the positive momentum that already exists. The plan is to significantly improve the image and conditions of Churchville, Glenwood and Orchard Knob by year-end 2010.
