Community Impact's approach to fulfilling its mission is to help residents of declining urban neighborhoods to restore neighborhood health. A healthy neighborhood is defined as one in which residents and external stakeholders are willing to invest time, energy, and money in the neighborhood; residents feel safe; neighbors have strong social networks; and neighborhood organizations have the capacity to successfully lead efforts to manage change. The organization's overall program strategy is both people-based and place-based:
Key Strategies
- Build Community Capacity: Increase the capacity of residents and other stakeholders to manage day to day issues and influence the future of their communities.
- Revitalize Neighborhoods: Create healthy neighborhoods where people choose to live and invest their time, energy and money.
Community Impact implements this two-pronged approach by focusing on four program areas; physical revitalization, neighborhood safety, social revitalization, and community empowerment. All program efforts are designed to improve neighborhood conditions by achieving desired outcomes in these four areas.
