Community Impact Highlights

 Community Impact HIGHLIGHTS

Though residents rarely use figures and numbers when describing the benefit of living in a safe, caring community, they are necessary to assess overall program effectiveness and comply with accountability requirements. The numbers below highlight some of the areas of impact in participating neighborhoods.

  • Residents of Community Impact neighborhoods led the successful effort to convert M.L. King Boulevard and McCallie Avenue to   2-way streets to support revitalization and stabilization of their neighborhoods.
  • Community Impact partner organizations led the effort to establish the Family Partnership Specialist program in Hamilton County Schools, an initiative designed to improve student academic achievement through family engagement.
  • Residents of Community Impact neighborhoods successfully lobbied for zoning policy changes in their respective neighborhoods, a strategy to promote homebuyer investment.
  • Community Impact recruited and trained more than 160 neighborhood leaders, providing a critical "first response" infrastructure to manage neighborhood threats and support revitalization efforts.
  • Residents of Community Impact neighborhoods collaborated with the Chattanooga Police Department to eliminate more than 50 crime “hotspots”.
  • Community Impact's Home Purchase Incentive Program attracted 60 new homebuyers to participating neighborhoods, leveraging more than $6 million in homes sales.
  • Community Impact, with guidance from neighborhood leaders, eliminated 79 blighted properties using its Buy/Hold Fund; these properties were acquired and held for redevelopment that is in line with the respective neighborhood’s revitalization plan.
  • Community Impact's Homeowner Facade Program provided 130 facade rehabs to improve curb appeal on targeted blocks.
