Geographic Focus Area

Like many cities, Chattanooga, Tennessee, has a mix of healthy and unhealthy neighborhoods, with the unhealthy neighborhoods concentrated in the urban core where disinvestment and social ills have festered over many decades. In Chattanooga, this concentration lies primarily in the "Ridge to River" area defined by the Tennessee River to the north, Missionary Ridge to the east, the Tennessee- Georgia state line to the south, and Lookout Mountain to the west. Since its inception, Community Impact has partnered with residents of 7 of the 19 neighborhoods within this area to help them restore the health and vitality of their communities: Bushtown, Highland Park, M. L. King, and Southside Historic District (1999-2006); Churchville,Glenwood and Orchard Knob (2007-2010).
